The MJA's #1 Medical Podcast
The MJA's podcast is the #1 medicine program published via Podomatic in Australia today, with around 44 short format episodes published each year. Our monthly downloads are regularly recorded at over 30,000 from hubs like Spotify, Apple Podcasts, our own website and wherever listeners get their podcasts.
The MJA now accepts proposals for sponsored podcasts as a way to curate important discussions about medicine and public health. Sponsors are invited to propose topics to be handled in one of two formats:
Public podcast format
MJA podcasts typically run as an informal interview with one or two subject matter experts conducted by an experienced journalist. This is our largest channel and reaches all major podcast distributors.
Doctors-only podcast format
Podcasts can also be created for a restricted audience of pre-registered health care professionals. Our marketing team will prepare a targeted email towards any specialty group held within the Medical Directory of Australia, which current includes over 58,000 verified emails. Doctors then register for access to the recorded podcasts.
Who is The Medical Journal of Australia?

Frequently asked questions
Let's help answer a few questions you may already have about a sponsorship with the MJA.
- How does sponsorship work?
The MJA offers sponsors a chance to nominate subject matter experts to be interviewed by an experienced journalist as a recorded podcast or podcast series. Sponsors are acknowledged at the top of the program.
- How do you work with doctor-only audiences?
AMPCo, the parent company of the MJA offers direct marketing services towards Australian doctors via the Medical Directory of Australia. For doctor-only podcasts, registration occurs with verified doctors and metrics on access and consumption are readily available.
- Are there restrictions on what the podcast covers?
We treat all ideas equally. Some clinical topics are better suited to a doctor-only audience.
- Is the podcast "promotional"?
No. The MJA maintains editorial independence and does not engage in native advertising. Sponsorship of a podcast does not suggest endorsement of a product or service. If we accept a proposal on a topic that associates with a product or service, we will approach the topic neutrally and ask questions we think are important to our audience.
- How large is our community of medical professionals?
The MJA reaches over 24,500 verified doctors bi-monthly and remains the most recognisable medical publication to the over 55,000 Australian doctors registered with AMPCo's Medical Directory of Australia.
The MJA is pleased to partner on arms' length medical communications to better equip Australian doctors for a rapidly evolving landscape. Podcasts allow us to engage our audience in a convenient, timely way to facilitate discussion critical to the health of all Australians.
We look forward to hearing about your areas of interest in this context.
