Liz has completed a BA in history and a BSc (Hons) in genetics at the University of Melbourne, an MSc in public health at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, and a PhD in medical biology at the Walter & Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research, where she worked on malaria. Prior to joining the MJA, Liz was an Associate Editor at Nature Reviews Disease Primers, Senior Editor at The Lancet, and Deputy Editor at The Lancet HIV. Her interests include infectious diseases, gender and health, and public health. Liz is currently on extended leave from the journal.


Competing interests

Liz has received consulting fees from WHO. She also has investments through her UK pension fund and Australian super fund, where she does not determine or monitor the individual companies included.
