Seahorse

Barnabas Bako
Radiology Registrar
Department of Radiology, The Children's Hospital at Westmead, Sydney, NSW

MJA 2001; 175: 628

Xray image The young girl was restless and crying. This study was requested by the surgical team to further evaluate the distended abdomen and unusual bowel sounds. The problem soon became clear - the child had a seahorse in her belly! Further careful questioning revealed that the family had recently visited the aquarium, and had spent a long time in the seahorse section. Another brilliant diagnosis!
