Crisis management in the community

A psychological crisis is a brief, non-illness response to severe stress.
A crisis is a period of transition, which may be seen as a challenge or a threat, a "make or break" new opportunity or risk, a gain or a loss, or both simultaneously. Most crises are part of the normal range of life experiences, and most people will recover from crisis without professional intervention.
When maladaptive responses to crisis are detected, crisis intervention is employed to achieve a more adaptive resolution and a more effective learning experience.
A personal crisis is not itself a clinical disorder, but may be a cause or consequence of mental illness.
