Lifestyle issues in stress management

Behaviours developed in response to stress may undermine the ability to cope.
  • Too much coffee can produce anxiety, irritability and insomnia.
  • Sleep deprivation to catch up on tasks may actually reduce performance.
  • Drug and alcohol use in response to stress may heighten problems.
Time out for exercise and relaxation may improve performance and the ability to cope with stress.
