Other depressive disorders

Less severe depression: Response to treatment is less predictable in long-lasting mild to moderate depression and in adjustment disorder with depressed mood.
Bipolar disorder (manic-depression) will require treatment with mood stabilising drugs (eg, lithium carbamazepine, sodium valproate) as well as antidepressant therapy.
Psychotic depression (accompanied by delusions and/or hallucinations) will require treatment with electroconvulsive therapy or a combination of antidepressant and antipsychotic drugs.
