Bridget's body image

MJA 1997; 167: 644

Bridget had anorexia and bulimia. She filled in this outline drawn around her body to express how she felt about herself. The "mess" of different-coloured paints represents her "messy" feelings, and the blurred outline, in some places making her look misshapen, suggests the distorted body image that is often a feature of anorexia. (Bridget is a pseudonym.)
