1:·When will we have good data on doctors' hours?

             The Safe Hours Project of the AMA, launched in June 1997, will review literature, survey opinion and conduct original research on junior doctors' work hours. Its main aims are to raise awareness of the need for reform, to develop agreed standards for work hours and to promote implementation of the standards. It will not, at present, concern itself with senior staff. More information on the project can be obtained from:

The Post-Graduate Medical Council of NSW has completed a pilot study of hospital doctors' work hours. The data from the pilot study are expected to be available shortly. A search for funds to complete the survey is in progress. The survey will cover only NSW and only junior staff. Information on this project can be obtained from:
