DXA imaging
Dual energy x-ray absorptiometry scan performed on a bone mineral densitometer (Lunar Expert, Madison, Wis) of the proximal femur in a young woman, age 37, with unsuspected femoral-neck osteopenia (bone mineral density [BMD] T score, -1.6). The scan has been displayed using a colour table to highlight the differences in bone mineral density. Regional proximal femur BMD is calculated in g/cm2 for the regions femoral neck, trochanteric, Ward's triangle and total proximal femur.Scan courtesy of Department of Nuclear Medicine and Bone Mineral Densitometry, St Vincent's Hospital, Sydney, NSW.
