An atlas of radiography for sports injuries. Jock Anderson. Sydney: McGraw Hill Australia 2000 (94pp.). ISBN: 0 07 470888 0. |
The axiom that
"a picture is worth a thousand words" is doubly true in radiography. Given the growing importance of elite and recreational sport in the community this atlas is timely -- although the subject is technical the text is concise and easy to follow. It includes discussion of the views that are essential in a routine series, how they are best obtained, and which injuries require extra views to complete a comprehensive examination.
The author, Jock Anderson, was Director of Medical Imaging for the 2000 Olympic and Paralympic Games. He lectures at Sydney University and the University of New South Wales, and is actively involved with several hospitals and sporting organisations. Although written primarily for radiographers, An atlas of radiography for sports injuries will be a valuable resource for physiotherapists and sports clinicians when choosing the appropriate examination and asking for specific views. Make the task of becoming more skilful at sports medicine imaging simple and enjoyable!
